    National Atlas & Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO), observed the ‘World Population Day-2024’ on 11th July, 2024 in its own campus at ‘Rashtriya Atlas Bhavan’, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

    Dr. Vijay Bharti, IAS, the Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction Department, delivered his valuable Special lectures on the focal theme of the Day, ‘To Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone'. He emphasized that in India, steps should be taken to count the unorganized sectors of population.

    Besides the focal theme, one Workshop on the theme ‘Population Statistics and Thematic Mapping’ was also organized on that day.

    Shri Kaushick Saha, IAS, the Director, DCO, West Bengal, enlighten the participants of the workshop through his informative and very important deliberation on ‘Population Statistics and Thematic Mapping in India’.

    Shri Prabhat Kumar, Social Policy Specialist, UNICEF, Kolkata, delivered his valuable lecture on ‘To Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone – Vulnerability of Children and Women in India’.

    Dr. Kajori Banerjee, Associate Professor, Population Studies Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, delivered her significant speech on ‘High Risk Pregnencies and Adverse Birth Outcomes in India’.

    Dr. Binod Kumar Singh, Director, NATMO, sum up the programme by explaining NATMO’s role in showcasing the real picture of population counting through thematic maps.

    About 200 officials participated in the event.
